Cross Index of Harley Davidson Part Numbers

Published by Harley Davidson August 10, 1951

Harley Davidson , over the years has had at least three versions of a parts numbering system, this publication made it helpful the first time a change was made. The publication was dated in August of 1951, but I am not sure when the actual change was made.

This copy I have had for nearly thirty years and it was produced by the 45 Restoration company who specialized in the 45 cubic inch Harley Davidson V-Twins.

Over the years permissions had been granted to individuals to reproduce these items and they were popular items at swap meets and magazine advertisements.

EasyRider magazine was selling a Panhead service manual to a younger crowd of chopper enthusiasts. Antique Cycle Supply had dozens of titles in a deal worked out with a Michigan Harley dealer. V Twin Mfg distributed many of these items.

Around 1992 Harley Davidson became interested in publishing older manuals and catalogs by enforcing some copyrighted materials. So in the case of this publication Harley has published it’s own “copy”.

Cross Index of Harley-Davidson Part Numbers

Description: cross reference the old 6 digit part numbers the the new 7 digit listing used today.

Helps reference obsolete numbers in older parts books.

53 pages
SKU: 99445-93 { a good example of a 7 digit part number }

Which we once sold from our Cycle Manuals Inc. website until the Factory cracked down on local dealers giving discounts to the trade.

Some other copies exist in the form of scans or pdf’s . I found this one recently of the Cross Index of Harley Davidson Part Numbers.

M. Arman Publishing 1978 – 2023

The statement above on the Arman-Publishing website is formal notice that after 45 years of producing niche items for the Harley Davidson enthusiasts they through some misfortune have shut down.

Arman Publishing Titles You May Know

What Fits What, which is a parts interchange and performance handbook for Harley-Davidson motorcycles from 1936 through 1983. This was our first book, and is now in the sixth edition.

Special Tools for Harley-Davidson, which covers the various special tools you do need and don’t need to work on your Harley-Davidson.

Motorcycle Electrics Without Pain. This is a no-math, no-theory book on making your bike run again. There’s no math and no theory, because you don’t need any!

Custom Chopper Cookbook. If you’re really serious about customizing, and want to know where to cut and what to weld, this is it.

Unauthorized Flat Rate Schedule for H-D. Covers FL and XL models, sorry, Evo information is copyrighted by the factory and we can’t obtain or publish it.

Unofficial Flat Rate Manual for Harley Davidson Motorcycles

Copyrighted by John Bolender 1984 [ The Service Department]
